Bulle railway station area

Etude urbaineFribourg

Upgrading the railway tracks at the Bulle station involves relocating the station building and redeveloping its plateau, currently occupied by the railway area and an industrial estate. The project foresees the expansion of the town centre; it establishes a new continuity by creating a link between the new station plateau and the major urban entities, which are the historical centre, the market square and Rue Albert-Rieter. Rue Albert-Rieter becomes the main axis of the project, linking these urban entities to the new station square. The latter, featuring two buildings, will become the new major interchange hub in the project and the identity of the new station. On the other side of the railway tracks, the Remise district is connected to the existing fabric by a succession of squares and public spaces along the tracks. The three built-up sections arranged inside a park will house the residential units in the manner of open blocks.
