| The « weph » What is the future of a single unit housing? None. Indeed, the preciousness of soil has become such that "upwards” is the direction. Brownfields and recycling are nowadays the future opportunities, as collective and high-density housing is the new habitat model to be developed. Wall-e-paper-house (WEPH) is an attempt to discuss about recycling and piling. The condition of the individual villa could be considered as a form of the XXth century. An assumption is made for this purpose: The formal inventory of possible villas has been completed during the past century. The WEPH piles up history cuts, pieces of « ruins » of the heroic architecture of the XXth and merge them through a complex operation - stacking, stretching, connecting - into the space of a potential tower, an artificial landscape. A free selection of villas has been made and a « cut » into the plan applied in order to produce a base of 100m2. The result is a vertical volume containing our ideas of how to construct a discourse about a new type of urban housing as vertical habitat, inhabited landscapes, rooted in conservation through physical fragments of past buildings and powered by renewable energies…To be completed. |
